Agree with most of these, just suggest a different way to close the gap. What is written predicated on the belief that the West approach is right, all that is needed is just to “Convince China to see the light”. This may have worked in the past, but most likely, no longer.
I propose the “Frequent dialogue with no grand expectation” instead. Just chat, as human beings. Regularly. May be slow, but may be more fruitful.
China hasn't taken US "coercion" and "bargaining" seriously. Things have shifted, and the US doesn't really have the leverage it requires. China has its domestic issues and public opinion to think of. Because practicality is such an ingrained factor in all Chinese policies, it manifests in a way where people tend to focus on the issues at hand (child safety, etc.). AGI is a concept Silicon Valley builds on top of, but China doesn't operate that way. However, I do think it's a serious issue any nation should think about.
You make it sound like being climate-pilled is a bad thing? The U.S. has been incredibly irresponsible in renewable and sustainable energy and will suffer the consequences. The energy bottleneck won’t just be a matter of capital, but a matter of time.
Literally focing the U.S. into expensive orbital compute projects. Where NASA is already irresponsible with tax payer money and SpaceX is the most over-valued company on the planet - especially post Tesla merge.
